Mister Finch Creative Writing Competition for Kids

Writing Competition For Kids

Overview

Mister Finch is a quirky rhyming tale written by Minds Underground’s Founder, Camille, bringing a fresh, fun-loving perspective on the elderly to children aged 3-7 years.

The first book in what will become a series, is ‘Mister Finch and the Queen’. Mister Finch is a delightfully eccentric old man, about to receive his invitation from the Queen to the palace as he is soon to be one hundred. His pet chick, Marcello, goes everywhere with him on his rickety pink bicycle, visiting London’s most iconic sights.

The tale hopes to bring young and old together, laughing and concocting their own stories of misadventures wherever they may be.

We now have a Mister Finch Jubilee Creative Writing Competition!

It’s the year of our Queen’s jubilee! To celebrate, we have designed a competition for children aged between 5 and 12 years. You don’t need to have read the book to enter, we simply wish to inspire children to think creatively and unleash their weird and wonderful imaginations!

To enter:

Each child must submit an A4 document with their own story (& illustrations if desired!) about a weird and wonderful character & their pet. For inspiration, have a look at our Character Description Pack! See how other famous writers conjured vivid images of the characters we love - Anne of Green Gables, Scrooge, Percy Jackson…
