Learn a Language!
MU language experts host beginner, intermediate and advanced courses in a whole host of languages: Spanish, French, German, Arabic, Mandarin, Italian. Each course is designed to ensure the student learns the language of their choice as a tool of communication, as well as gaining insights into the history, culture and society to stimulate students’ interest in the language and promoting critical thinking skills. Students will acquire a solid foundation in listening, speaking, writing, reading and cultural awareness.
Logistics: Students may take sessions per hour, or purchase blocks of sessions (each 10th hour is free). If you are potentially interested in group classes of more than 2, do contact us as we may have students of the same level who can join.
Beginner
Beginner courses are designed for students who are interested in the language with little previous experience. The course will be complementary to the Key Stage 3 UK syllabus and is designed to embrace a great level of flexibility in terms of its delivery.
Intermediate
The Intermediate level is complementary to the GCSE/ IGCSE syllabus across different exam boards in England. Students are able to develop a deeper understanding of the language in order to reach the top GCSE levels and acquire a solid basis from which to progress to A-level.
Advanced
The advanced level ensures students master their language and communication skills and are able to speak fluently in various situations. The course allows students to explore the culture, history and society of the country in question in depth, with an emphasis on the learning of complex grammar, sentences and vocabulary, and the expression of opinions. Students will be encouraged to use complex sentence structure and vocabulary to discuss and debate culture and current affairs.
Creativity and critical thinking are central to language learning and students will have the opportunity to explore the subject of their interest and conduct research, allowing them to explore their interests in depth in their independent study, particularly if applying for language courses at university.
