Unlock the Secrets of the Past (13-15)
In this masterclass we will think about the different ‘things’ historians can use to gather information and how to analyse them to unlock their secrets about the past. It’s a bit like being a detective, as we will examine maps, objects and audio-visual sources to find out about how people lived in different places and times. We will discuss the sort of questions you need to ask when analysing these different sources. Sometimes a source can reveal something quite unexpected!
This masterclass will offer a lot of variety as the sources we will discuss will take us on a whistle-stop tour of different periods of time and different places around the globe.
Host: Kryssa is a 1st class History and Modern Languages graduate from University of Oxford, now pursuing further study focusing on the history and cultures of Eastern European countries.
Suitability: This masterclass is aimed at GCSE-age students looking to enhance their source work abilities.
Duration: Suggested 1-1.5 hours.
