A masterclass for animal and conservation lovers! Is the role of a zoo in conservation and education still relevant? Is the money spent on zoos better spent elsewhere? Are zoos failing to provide animals with the environment they need to thrive? This masterclass will explore the purpose of zoos and discuss their benefits and potential disadvantages. At the end of the masterclass, students will be asked to formulate their own opinion on whether zoos are good or bad.

  • Host: Amber graduated with a 1st Class degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Oxford, ranking top in St. Hugh's College. Amber held the role of President of St Hugh’s Biological Society whilst at Oxford, organising academic events to engage all intercollegiate years of study, explaining and discussing biological topics with students from other courses. Amber enjoys supporting students in their investigation of prominent biological questions, with specialities mainly within evolution, ecology and animal behaviour
